October Pastor’s Message

While I was reading scripture I came across the verse in Matthew about the Last Supper. This is a verse that is very familiar to many of you, I’m sure. It says, “ While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”

Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

I began to think that too often, Holy Communion becomes routine—a moment tucked neatly between announcements and the closing hymn. We sip, we chew, we move on. But in doing so, we risk forgetting the sacred weight of what it represents: the body broken, the blood poured out, the covenant sealed in love. This is not just bread and juice – it is a divine invitation to remember, to repent, to rejoice. When we treat Communion casually, we overlook the Grace we’ve been so undeservingly given.

So my challenge for you this October is to take those sacred moments – Communion, The Lord’s Prayer, The Doxology, and be still for a moment and reflect on the meaning of your life in Christ.

Be well.

May you see God’s blessings all around you,

Pastor Nicole
